What Our Students Achieve

GRADUATE STORY

Maria lost her husband three years ago. She joined our Salon Training, learned to groom, and opened a small salon in her garage just around the corner from us. Today, she’s building her own client base – and because our salon is often fully booked, we send dogs her way.

Common Issues When Choosing a Grooming Course

Before students find us, many of our students get stuck in some of these:

  • Icon of a certificate with a paw print emblem and ribbon

Focusing on certificates instead of real skills

The industry is currently unregulated. Most salon owners don’t ask to see a certificate – they look at your handling, safety, and the quality of your grooms.

  • Line drawing of a clothes iron and a dress with a ruffled bottom

Trying to learn from YouTube and Instagram alone

Watching can help, but it doesn’t replace handling live, moving, sometimes anxious dogs in a real salon.

  • Illustration of a person giving a massage to a dog in a tub, labeled 'Dog Massage icon'.

Waiting until they’ve bought all the equipment

Thinking they need a fully kitted-out salon before they even learn the skill. In reality, you can start small and finance equipment later.

  • A person smiling and adjusting a bow tie on a dog, both appearing happy.

Putting it off for the “perfect time”

Waiting for work to calm down, for more savings, for the kids to be older. There is always a reason to delay, so nothing changes.

  • Line drawing of a dog rescue vest with a bone emblem on the front.

Believing they’re “too old” to start again

We were told we were too old and “mad” to open our own salon at 43. We did it anyway. We now train women who thought they’d missed their chance.

  • Illustration of a person giving a massage to a dog lying on the ground

Our Academy is built to do the opposite of these traps

Real skills in a real salon, clear learning for adults, honest business guidance, and a community that reminds you it’s never too late.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • No. Our courses are designed for complete beginners. We guide you step by step, in small groups, inside a real working salon.

  • Getting started is simple. Reach out through our contact form or schedule a call—we’ll walk you through the next steps and answer any questions along the way.

  • No. Many of our students are in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and beyond. We were told at 43 that we were “too old” and “crazy” to open our own salon. We did it during a pandemic. Age is not the barrier here – fear is. Our job is to help you build the skills and confidence to move forward.

  • All students who complete our training receive a Dog World Grooming Academy Certificate of Completion.

We are not affiliated with external awarding bodies such as City & Guilds. Instead, we have developed our own training method, shaped by real salon experience and focused on the breeds and coat types most commonly seen in the modern grooming market.

Our approach prioritises safe handling, correct techniques, and the health and wellbeing of each individual dog. The goal of our training is to prepare students for real-world grooming with confidence, care, and professionalism.

  • Yes. Our students travel from across the UK (and sometimes beyond) to train with us. We’ll share our course dates and help you plan your time in London as best we can.

  • Salon Training (32 days in-salon + 2 days business training): £5,450

    Grooming Course (32 days in-salon): £4,350

  • No. You’ll be using our equipment in the salon during your training, and we’ll guide you on what to buy (and what not to waste money on) for your own setup. We’ll also talk about different ways to finance your equipment so you don’t have to empty your savings on day one.

  • You leave with real experience, a clear plan, and ongoing support. You’ll still have WhatsApp access to us, plus our private Facebook group where students and graduates share questions, wins, and support. You are not left on your own the moment
